Welcome to our P1 page!
The P.1 Teachers this year are Mrs Gorman, Mrs Patton, Mrs Millar and Miss Wilson.
We have lots of exciting topics to cover during the year.
How we learn in P.1.
The P.1 curriculum is delivered through carefully planned activities through which children will develop their skills in:
- Communication
- Phonological Awareness
- Early Reading
- Early Writing
- Early Mathematics
- Thinking & Problem Solving
- ICT
- Personal Development and Understanding of others
Playful teaching and learning happens throughout P.1 and builds on the experiences that the children have had at home and in their pre-school settings. We know that play is crucial to children’s brain development. It contributes to positive mental health and wellbeing, develops skills such as resilience, problem solving, sharing and negotiating, and most of all - it is fun!
Our curriculum in P.1 develops all the skills that children need to become successful learners. We lay the foundation for the holistic development of our children through carefully planned learning opportunities, both within the classroom and in our extensive outdoor facilities.
